Time Line: Enhancing the College Experience


  • FRESHMAN: Explore interests early. Talk with a career counselor and begin the journey of self-exploration and embrace growth opportunities.

  • SOPHOMORE: Begin to build your professional portfolio by getting involved in campus and community activities. Establish a strong work ethic and connect with faculty and alumni. Enhance your educational experience through internships, job opportunities, shadowing and/or informational interviews.

  • JUNIOR: Strengthen your job readiness skills by attending workshops, mock interviews and career fairs. Continue to build your professional portfolio with internships and related job experiences. If graduate school is in your future, research schools that best meet your professional goals.
  • SENIOR: Promote your professional portfolio by engaging in WestPACS the largest student career fair in the Pittsburgh region, attend area career fairs and explore other opportunities to broaden your professional networks.
