Shenango Campus Wins Commonwealth Campuses 20/20 Energy Challenge
Penn State's Sustainability Institute recently announced the winners of the 2014 20/20 Energy Challenge, and the Shenango campus took first place among the Commonwealth campuses.
The goal of the Energy Challenge is to bring awareness to the fact that small actions taken daily can have a significant, overall impact on energy consumption. It is Penn State's goal to reduce energy consumption by 20 percent by the year 20/20.
A total of 60 of Shenango's faculty and staff took six easy energy-saving steps daily and tracked these actions for two weeks. The Shenango campus had the largest percentage of faculty and staff participate in the challenge, compared to other participating Commonwealth campuses.
The campus' ShenanGO Green Team, under the direction of Tony Paglia, campus counselor and disability contact liaison, are responsible for helping to make the Shenango campus a more environmentally and economically responsible place to work.
