Build Your Own Terrarium in One-Day Workshop

12/17/2012 —

Sharon, Pa.—Create your own small ecosystem with little work or upkeep at Penn State Shenango's one-day terrarium workshop on Saturday, January 26, from 9 to 11:00 a.m. in Great Hall of Sharon Hall on Vine Avenue in downtown Sharon, PA.

You don't have to have a green thumb to build, maintain and enjoy a bit of the outdoors with your new terrarium. The plants will sustain themselves with minimal care and may be placed in any indirectly lit space in your home or office for a calming indoor natural world.

Terrariums come in all shapes and sizes depending on your glassware. There are a multitude of ideas and possibilities for terrarium themes, such as desert terrariums planted with succulents in sandy soil, or forest style terrariums planted with ferns and mosses with branches scattered about.

If you are interested in learning more about the vast possibilities of creating terrariums and making one of your own, the two-hour workshop is $30, which includes all terrarium materials.

All proceeds from this workshop will benefit the Penn State Shenango Earth Fest, to be held on April 13, 2013. To register, go to www.shenango.psu.edu under "Announcements" and click Terrarium Registration Form. Class size is limited to 15 people.
