Shenango campus alumna sings National Anthem in Pittsburgh
Sharon, Pa. – Penn State Shenango alumna Sara Liska performed the National Anthem on Saturday, August 27 in front of 70,000 spectators during the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Atlanta Falcons pre-season football game.
"I've been dreaming of this since I was three-years-old and watching the Steelers' games," Liska said. "Dreams really do come true. It was an experience I will never forget."
Liska, from Hermitage, is a singer/songwriter who has opened for bands including Emerson Drive and The Outlaws and has recorded with John Carter Cash in Nashville, Tennessee.
Although singing is her forte, Liska was recently cast in the role of Shelby in the play Steel Magnolias which will be held at the Sharpsville Pierce Opera House in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, and will run the last two weekends in October. "I'm very excited and honored not only to be playing this character but also to be working with a highly talented cast of women," stated Liska. The play runs in October, which is Breast Cancer awareness month, and focuses on the strength women possess in themselves and the support they give to each other.
Since graduating from Penn State with a bachelor of science degree in business, management/ marketing option, Liska has been employed at Primary Health Charitable Foundation in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
