Associate Professor & Program Coordinator of Nursing
Dr. Kathleen Mastrian is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Nursing at Penn State Shenango. She has been involved in the education of non-traditional aged students for 30 years in the RN to BS nursing program. She has also been active in the development of technology enhanced courses for registered nurses facilitating asynchronous participation and active and collaborative learning. She has written 4 online courses for Penn State’s World Campus.
Dr. Mastrian has published over 30 nursing journal articles and three books. She is an internationally known nursing informatics expert. Her co-edited textbook, Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge (Jones and Bartlett 2009) has been marketed extensively in the US and abroad, been translated into Korean, and published as a new edition in New Delhi, India. She is currently developing the second edition of that book. She also recently co-authored, Integrating Technology in Nursing Education: Tools for the Knowledge Age (Jones and Bartlett 2011).
