Introduction to the role of accounting numbers in the process of managing a business and in investor decision making.
BA 243 Social, Legal and Ethical Environment of Business (4 credits)
Explores the ethical, political, social, legal and regulatory, technological and demographic diversity environment of business. A student may not receive credit toward graduation for both B LAW 243 and BA 243.
ECON 002 Introductory Microeconomic Analysis and Policy (3 credits)
Methods of economic analysis and their use; economic aggregates; price determination; theory of the firm; distribution.
ECON 004 Introductory Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy (3 credits)
National income measurement; aggregate economic models; money and income; policy problems.
MGMT 301 Basic Management Concepts (3 credits)
Study of fundamental principles and processes applicable to the understanding of management. Not available to students who have taken B A 304.
MGMT 341 Human Resource Management (3 credits)
Introduction to the strategic planning and implementation of human resource management, including staffing, development, appraisal, and rewards.
MGMT 321 Leadership and Motivation (3 credits)
Applies organizational behavior theories, concepts, and skills to leading and motivating individuals and groups.
SOC 001 Introductory Sociology (3 credits)
The nature and characteristics of human societies and social life.
PSYCH 100 Introductory Psychology (3 credits)
Introduction to general psychology; principles of human behavior and their applications.
SOC 005 Social Problems (3 credits)
Current social problems such as economic, racial, and gender inequalities; social deviance and crime; population, environmental, energy, and health problems.
Advanced Certificate (20 + 12 credits)
ENGL 015 Rhetoric and Composition (3 credits)
Instruction and practice in writing expository prose that show sensitivity to audience and purpose. Prerequisite: ENGL 004 or satisfactory performance on the English proficiency examination.
FIN 301 Corporation Finance (3 credits)
Nature of finance function; risk and return concepts; working capital; dividend policies; mergers; security markets; acquisition and management of corporate capital; analysis of operations, forecasting capital requirements; raising capital; and planning profits.
MKTG 301 Principles of Marketing (3 credits) Focuses on customer behavior, product, channels of distribution, promotion, and pricing with emphasis on a culturally diverse environment. Not available to students who have taken B A 303.
CAS 100 Effective Speech (3 credits)
Introduction to speech communication: formal speaking, group discussion, analysis and evaluation of messages.
