Financial Aid Requirements
To be eligible to receive financial aid for any semester, a graduate student must, during that semester:
1. Be accepted into the Graduate School.
2. Be accepted into the specific program - Master of Education Degree in Teaching & Curriculum
3. Be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credits
4. Be enrolled in 400 level or higher courses
Most aid is awarded to full-time students (9 credits is considered full-time for graduate students) and therefore limits available aid for most individuals enrolled in this program. If you are enrolled as a graduate non-degree student, you are not eligible to apply for any financial aid until you officially enter the degree program.
If you are eligible and interested in applying for a Federal Stafford Loan, you should complete the current Free Application for Federal Student Aid and answer YES to question #33. Graduate students are eligible to borrow up to $8,500 per semester for a total of six (6) semesters, if the student is enrolled for a minimum of five (5) credeits. Whether the loans are award as subsidized or unsubsidized is based upon the student's financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
Several common types of financial aid are not available to most students enrolled in this program. Pennsylvania State Grants are not available for graduate students and most federal campus-based aid including work-study is available for full-time students only.
