Coach Patrick Chambers Talks Penn State Basketball at Alumni Society Dinner
As anticipated, last night's Friends of Penn State Alumni Dinner sponsored by the Penn State Shenango Alumni Society was a great event--you "gotta" love Penn State alumni--they know how to have fun!
This year's guest speaker, Penn State Men's Basketball Coach Patrick Chambers', gave an energetic and enlightening speech to a large crowd in the Penn State Shenango auditorium following dinner. He expressed the importance of his guys playing as a team and understanding how lucky they are to be playing at Penn State.
"It's not always easy being a Penn State men's basketball player," Chambers stated.
Why is that? Chambers expects his players to work as hard off the court as on. Working as a team is extremely important to him, but so is his players working hard to get a good education. Chambers wants his guys to succeed in whatever they do after graduating; "Whether it is coaching or running a business, you need to have that degree," he said. And Chamber does all he can to make sure each of his players are successful.
Coach Chambers also believes in the importance of giving back to the community, which he and his team have proven to do time and time again. From actively supporting Coaches vs. Cancer to participating in the Alzheimer's Walk annually and even to eagerly dancing in this year's THON, the Penn State Men's Basketball team is out there making a difference in their community!
