Dr. Mastrian to Present Lecture on Big Data in Health Care
Penn State Shenango will continue its 2013-2014 Faculty Lecture Series with Dr. Kathy Mastrian, associate professor and program coordinator for Nursing, who will speak at 7 p.m. on Thurs., March 20 in Sharon Hall room 105. Mastrian’s topic is Big Data in Health Care: What is it? Why is it Important? The event is free and open to the public.
Mastrian is a leader and expert in nursing informatics, a discipline on the cutting edge of nursing science. She received her doctorate in medical sociology from Kent State University. Mastrian has written two books on the subject, Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge (two editions); the third edition will be released in March 2014, and, Teaching with Technology: Tools for the Knowledge Age. In 2012, she received the prestigious Penn State Shirley Novosel Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award.
