Students Raise More Than $10,000 for THON--Two Shenango Students Will Dance
Two Penn State Shenango students Kelsey Zurawsky and Meagan Hardy will participate by dancing in this year's THON--Penn State University's 46-hour dance marathon, which raises millions of dollars each year for pediatric cancer. Kelsey and Meagan are not only campus' dancers, they are also this year's Shenango campus THON co-chairpersons, who, along with a group of 12 students, have raised more than $10,000 for THON through numerous fundraisers.
According to THON advisor Amy Evans, the students raised the funds by selling THON T-shirts, holding a Spaghetti benefit dinner and basket raffle, placing donation boxes at local businesses, participating in three "Canning" weekends, collecting and recycling aluminum cans, and sponsoring a Penguin's Hockey ticket raffle. Several of these students will also be attending THON weekend, February, 21-23, to help support Kelsey and Meagan, and other campus dancers, as they participate in the largest student-run philanthropic event in the country.
We are so proud of our students--way to go Shenango!
