Professor Ferguson to Speak on Improving Well-Being through Positive Psychology
Penn State Shenango will continue its 2013-2014 Faculty Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on Thurs., November 21 with Assistant Professor of Psychology Yuna L. Ferguson speaking on “Improving Well-Being through Positive Psychology.” The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Sharon Hall room 105, located on Penn Avenue in downtown Sharon, Pa.
Dr. Ferguson received her doctorate in psychological science from the University of Missouri. Her expertise is in social-personality psychology, although her research is vast and reaches into the well-being of adolescents and adults, including self-compassion, personal goals and motivation, happiness strategies, and cultural identify. Her current research is on collected survey data from Zambian adolescents and their exposure to and identification with American culture. A recent published article on intentions to become happier by listening to music has been mentioned in several media outlets including a Wall Street Journal blog and UK based Daily Mail.
